By now Beverly Hills residents and shopaholics know that numerous Rodeo Drive boutiques are under renovation, some even relocating. Despite these ongoing updates, the luxe locale remains a bustling hub of activity. Unfortunately, if you’re headed to the neighborhood for a shiny new Rolex or Patek Philippe, you’re out of luck – at least for the time being.

Gearys, a long-time operator of Rolex and Patek Philippe in Beverly Hills, has for some time planning to shift their storefront to a prime location. From their side-by-side spot at the Luxe Hotel’s facade, these two watch showrooms are moving just down the street. The development sees these well-known watchmakers expand to a 15,000 square foot building. Roughly 7,000 square feet of floor space will house the more than a century old Swiss watch designer Rolex. Meanwhile, the less prolific (but much older) Patek Phillipe gets to display their timepieces on 4,000 square foot of floor space. Building plans submitted to the city’s Architectural Commission also details a third story addition for a private rooftop terrace. There’s also shared workshop spaces set aside for the high-end horologists.

When asked about the construction plans, owner and president of Gearys, Tom Blumenthal proudly claims that the workshop will be the only one west of New York. The back of house operation provides service for Rodeo Drive customers as well as the smaller Rolex stores on Beverley Drive, Century City, and Santa Monica.

Local Patek Philippie boutique visitors will be greeted by an exquisite beige stone facade. Rolex on the other hand will feature a street-facing storefront made completely of iridescent green glass. Designed by watchamakers in Geneva, both shops will be flagships for the West Coast.

This five year long project with the two premium brands is expected to reopen its doors by Fall of 2024. So, if you’re still undecided about which model to get, consider this a sign to assess your choice. A crowd fave is the Rolex Daytona.
