No trip to Cali is complete without a Rodeo Drive stopover. The district, well known as a premier global shopping destination, is popular with locals and tourists alike. Amongst the row of upscale couture shops and designer labels is a brand sought after for its array of stylish products. The Dior boutique, which has fashionistas in a chokehold since 1990, is home to clothing, bags, footwear, accessories, and jewelry.

But this is about to change. Recently, the city gave the Dior Beverly Hills flagship the go signal to renovate. The latest expansion approved by the Planning Commission features a 3-storey building with an innovative addition! If you’re curious to learn what the fab fashion house has in store, read on.

But before Rodeo Drive came to be the two-mile stretch of luxury boutiques you see today, the area was initially a multipurpose subdivision in 1906. It wasn’t until the ‘60s that the first posh brand, Giorgio Beverly Hills, set up shop. This was followed years later by Gucci, which then drew in more brands. By the 1980s, a little over 60 stores filled the fashion strip. Eventually, more posh boutiques began lining up the district.

From then on, not only did development explode in the neighborhood while encouraging brands to update their shops. One such luxe label undergoing a major revamp as of late is Christian Dior.

Dior Before it’s Latest Revamp

Like many stores on Rodeo Drive, Dior in Beverly Hills is no stranger to overhauls. One of its more memorable facelifts showcases a stunning 24-foot crystal glass and chain facade. The bougie design was inspired by magnificent curtains at a Hollywood premiere.

The celebrated 5,000-square-foot luxury fashion house carried a towering selection of bags, watches, and small leather goods in one section. A central display was dedicated to specialty handbags (crocodile Lady Dior, python saddlebag, ostrich handbag, etc) and unique accessories.

There’s a separate part for a particular season’s Ready to Wear collection and another with an impressive selection of fine jewelry.

Meanwhile, the establishment’s second floor is reserved for VIP clientele. Rooms in this area offer the perfect combination of comfort and luxury. Safe to say, this “old” design screams upscale and couture. As such, it’s hard to imagine the iconic building coming down to make way for a newer and better Beverly Hills store.

The New Dior and What to Look Out For

You’re probably wondering what makes the new Christian Dior worth the wait. Well, fashionistas are in for a treat. The snazzy expansion project sees the boutique rise to 3 floors, each featuring an outdoor terrace.

The 60-foot-tall building still brings the usual favorites. Customers of the brand will find signature clothing pieces, couture numbers, iconic bags, fine jewelry, accessories, and beauty products.

Besides women’s items, regulars can shop for menswear, children’s clothing, and homeware (glassware, decor, flatware, tableware).

However, the showstopper of the revamp will be on the topmost floor. This third-floor restaurant will serve French cuisine and pastries. The still unnamed dining establishment is slated to operate daily from 10 am to 10 pm.

A rooftop destination with Parisian vibes where important clients can dine or book special events and private launches. The space will have 14 outdoor tables and a total of 46 chairs. And if you’ve had the opportunity to dine at any of the chic Dior restaurants, you know the interior design never disappoints.

Furthermore, according to documents filed with the city of Beverly Hills, the Rodeo Drive flagship comes complete with 29 underground parking spaces. How’s that for convenience? You can shop until you drop or host an event without worrying about finding a safe spot for your vehicle.

With all the amazing things to come, it’s unsurprising why many eagerly await its reopening. If you’re among the many Dior fans excited about the store renovation, tune in for more updates on the lux maison and other related Rodeo Drive news.

It’s pretty amazing to see to what lenghts Dior goes to remodel their flagship boutique on Rodeo Drive. It’s down to the bare metal beams and needs to be completely build up from here. Well, at least they’re keeping the structure unlike Cartier and Chanel. Of course, this photo is showing the back side of the building.
